Announcing the opening of PCPC’s Client Resource Facility.  This multifaceted facility is a valuable newly-added benefit for PCPC’s network business clients.  The facility is a powerful resource for our clients, filled with cutting edge systems that exhibit cost effective and eco-friendly technologies from Intel, Seagate, NComputing, Microsoft and others. It is a fully functional multi-server network with seven different types of workstations, LCD displays, a variety of the newest keyboard styles and types, wired and wireless Internet access,network switches, duplex laser printers and color inkjets.  Internet access is protected by Sonicwall VPN/Router devices attached to cost effective Verizon DSL lines.

Although the Client Resource Facility is primarily a Microsoft Partner showcase with hot swap drives containing server installations of Microsoft Server 2003, Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, Microsoft SQL Server 2000/5, and Microsoft Small Business Server 2003, it also includes Intel's latest Linux based network device, the Network Attached Storage Raid Server SS4000.  This Intel unit boasts a full Terrabyte of storage capacity and includes four drives utilizing the new Raid-10 technology.  Dr. Buckner notes that as the Facility comes up to full capacity we will also have virtual server technology demonstrating how multiple systems can run on one powerful machine.  In 2006, Microsoft’s Sharepoint Server was installed in the Facility with full web access for our clients.

PC PowerCenter is both an Intel OEM Partner and a Microsoft Action Pack OEM partner.  This insures that all of the latest Microsoft software is available for our utilization in full working installations.  The Facility also includes a powerful Microsoft Media Center workstation with Video and Audio editing facilities, as well as multiple scanners.

Computer peripheral technology has in many cases become as important as the CPU unit itself.  Users care about keyboard ergonomics, wireless convenience, low power consumption, heat dissipation, and especially Noise.  The products in the C.R. Facility enable us to provide excellent counsel to our clients when choosing for their own installations.  Small keyboards, multimedia keyboards, remote control wireless devices all are operational in the Client Resource Facility.

One of the newest and hottest technologies supporting new Green technology center development is MoDT.  A MoDT computer is Mobil On the Desktop!  The newest of these systems are Intel VIIV Certified, include Intel’s Pentium DUO Core Mini CPU that is equivalent to two high speed Pentium 4 processors.  Our AOPEN model of the MINI MoDT Computer is a sleek silver case, (smaller than a Cohiba cigar box ), weighing only 1 pound, quieter than a laptop, and sleek silver in design hosts the powerful Microsoft Media Center Software.  One of the most exciting initiatives in computing MoDT is transferring Intel’s mobile low power, low heat, low noise technology to highly compact and portable desktops. 

Connections to the outside world include remote access to the Intel SS4000 FTP server for file posting and transfers.  This will provide our clients with a demonstration FTP server enabling them to test the technology for secure transfers to their clients or staff. 

Last but not least, located in mid-town Manhattan near major conference centers at the NY Hilton, NY Sheraton, Marriott Marquis and others, the Client Resource Facility  provides PC Power Center clients with a comfortable technology flight lounge for resting between appointments and commuting.
